How much does a cake cost?

Hmmmm...that's a tough one to provide a general answer for. Cake prices depend on size and the detail involved. As the size and detail requested goes up, so does the number of hours involved in making it happen.

Here's an estimate:

- A single 10" round (or 8" square if you prefer!), 3 1/2" high cake with a figure or fondant topper is $95 (picked up at the shop.) Great for feeding 25+. (Smaller, simple 8" round cakes for 15 start at $75.)

- An impressive 12" round, 4" high cake with a figure or fondant topper is $135 (picked up at the shop.) Great for feeding 50-55.

The 8", 10" and 12" cakes above can often be ordered on shorter notice than the tiered cakes - give us a call to see if we can fit in your event.

Here are a few quidelines for other sized cakes:

- Simple 2 tiered cakes that serve 30-40 start at $235.

- Simple 3 tiered cakes that serve 50-60 start at $330.

- Simple 2 tiered, topsy turvy cakes that serve 50-60 start at $285.

- Simple 3 tiered, topsy turvy cakes that serve 70 start at $425.

 - Cakes for over 85 servings are usually priced by the slice. Prices start at $6.00 per slice

For prices on carved cakes, such as purses, diaper bags, trucks, animals, etc., please call.

Add any delivery charges (see below) and tax to that, and you've got cake. These are only estimates - please call for pricing....

How far ahead should I order?

As soon as you can!!  We fill up our schedule an average of 6-8 weeks ahead, so reserving your date early is recommended. Please note that final balances must be paid with cash or check. Credit cards are only accepted online for deposits. No credit cards can be processed at the shop at this time.

What products does A Cake In Time produce?

We make carved cakes, multi-tiered and single tiered cakes, cupcakes (only for those customers also ordering a cake) and tons of cookie favors. Yes, we can put photos on cakes and cookies, too! We work in cake, chocolate, rice krispie treats, butter cream and fondant. We sell custom photo prints by the sheet ($10 each), make corporate gifts, and teach basic fondant classes.

How do they taste?

"I ordered a cake from ANOTHER bakery and it looked great - but tasted terrible!" I hear this all the time! All of our cakes and fillings are made from scratch with time and customer tested recipes. Our cakes look great and taste terrific! Really! Our cakes are not your typical "bakery" fare - think homemade taste with the artists touch you are looking for.

Do you hold cake tastings?

YES! We will be holding open tastings every few weeks as the schedule allows. If you can't wait until then, I can provide references - customers who had the same reservations you do about buying a cake without tasting it first and are now Raving Fans! Keep checking back to the website or our Facebook page for dates. Private tastings are only offered to customers requiring 100 or more servings of cake for thier order. The price is $25 and includes 3 cake flavors and an assortment of butter cream flavors. Feel free to bring up to 5 guests.

I need a cake today - can I come to your store and pick one up?

All of our cakes are custom designed and created, so the only baking we do is for orders. I often book 4-6 weeks ahead of time, but I may be able to squeeze you in on short notice depending on the week.

Do you deliver? What are the costs?

Located in Suffolk County, we deliver to any of the 5 boroughs - including Manhattan. Delivery costs run between $25 and $85+, depending on the location, time of delivery and the complexity of the cake setup. At this time we DO NOT SHIP our cakes. (There are minimum orders required for delivery...call and ask for more info.)
